Joey Knight was raised in Minto, New Brunswick where he still makes his home today with his wife, Carol, daughter, Stacey and son, Jason. The son of a coal miner and the youngest of nine children, Joey grew up with a strong commitment to family. His teenage years were spent honing his craft while leading his own four-piece band and playing in local nightclubs. Joey's reputation and popularity continued to grow throughout the Maritimes which later enabled him to expand across Canada. Constant requests for recorded product led Joey to Nashville, and in 1984, the first Joey Knight album entitled "I'll Sing One Just For You" was released. A number of tracks from the album did exceptionally well for Joey, gaining him national exposure and reaching number one on the various charts of radio stations across Canada.
In 1986, Joey released three new singles including "Weakness Tonight", "Nights Like This" and "Midnight Whispers". All three songs reached the top ten as hits nationally and received international airplay in Europe, Scandinavia, Germany and many other countries. With Joey's recorded product, strong vocal ability, dynamic performances and showmanship, he soon found himself performing on several television shows, such as "The Tommy Hunter Show", Canadian Country Music Award Show, radio talk shows, concerts, festivals and was chosen as opening act for such major US performers such as Mickey Gilley, Tanya Tucker, Gene Watson, John Conley, etc. He also performed among many major US and Canadian artists at the Big Valley Jamboree in Craven, Saskatchewan that was then considered Canada's largest outdoor festival.
In 1988-89, Joey was nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist and Vista Rising Star Awards. Joey and his band toured heavily across Canada into the United States through Massachusetts down to music city Nashville where he performed special showcases at Music Row, the Opryland Hotel, " Stagedoor Lounge" and the Nashville Palace where he thrilled the packed audiences beyond all expectations.
Joey Knight is one of the most affable, charismatic entertainers that country music has to offer. He possesses a quality that is instantly likeable; sincerity and genuine love for what he does is evident both on and off stage.
In 1993, Joey Knight was honoured by being inducted into the New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame for his contribution as one of New Brunswick's most popular performing artists.
Today, Joey is still active in the music industry and is well known for his generosity in donating his time and talent for numerous benefits in assisting those in need throughout his community and surrounding areas.
