The beginning of the Minto Country Music Wall of Fame Inc..........................
In 1999, after playing a country show in Minto, I was driving back to Fredericton and thinking that there are so many talented people in the Grand Lake area there should be a way of honoring and recognizing those musicians. I imagined a Wall of Fame that could do just that.
After discussing the idea on a number of occasions with Paul Rollins, he agreed to come on board and we arranged a meeting with then Mayor Don Gould, Gary DiPaolo and the late Aubrey Hanson, who was a big supporter of this idea and wanted to help get it up and running.
With the legal assistance of the late George Yeamans, we incorporated the Minto Country Music Wall of Fame and formed a Board of Directors that included Paul Rollins, Gary DiPaolo, Angelo DiCarlo, Mel MacKenzie, Margo Murphy, Doris Belliveau, Earl Brogan (who moved to Ontario shortly after) and I. Following the loss of our friend Paul Rollins, his wife, Anna, joined the Board of Directors.
To keep the ball rolling we needed Corporate Sponsors and anxious to join us were the Village of Minto, United Mine Workers of America, Rock 'n Rodeo, Moosehead Breweries, Pepper Creek Plaza and Eastland Industries.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Minto Country Music Wall of Fame Inc., I would like to thank our many supporters from Minto, Chipman and especially those from Fredericton who generously make our yearly event such a success. Our Annual Dinner/Induction Ceremony is now in its 8th year of sold out crowds and we are looking forward to many more years of honouring our local musicians.
The music on this web site is supplied by the Fulton Family and honors our friend and past inductee, the late Freddie Fulton.
