Gerry Robichaud

2002 INDUCTEE
Gerry Robichaud has been contributing to the music industry of Canada and the United States for over 60 years. He first appeared on radio station CKCW (Moncton) when he was thirteen years of age.

Three years later he brought his much-appreciated Down East/Acadian style of fiddle music to the Grand Lake area and the people of Minto. Throughout the years Gerry has played with numerous bands, which included: “The Lone Star Playboys”, “Casa Loma Rhythmaires”, “Franco-American Club” (Boston, U.S.A.) and many others.

He has six major recordings to his credit on Baff/Rodeo, Voyageur, Fretless and the Rounder labels. Gerry has also won several awards at fiddling competitions, which included the prestigious New England Regionals several times and the Massachusetts State five times.

Gerry’s music has never lost its Maritime and New Brunswick flavored content. His recordings contain such tunes as: The Grand Lake Reel, Coal Branch Reel, Island Ferry, Slope Road Jig, Maxime LeBlanc Reel, Pacific Slope and The New Brunswick Hornpipe.

His repertoire of music always reflects his love for his native province and certainly entitles him to be esteemed as one of New Brunswick’s Fiddling Ambassadors.
