Eva was born and raised in Minto, NB - the daughter of Frank and Beatrice Boucher. She started playing guitar at home as a young girl after her brother received one for Christmas. Her love of music continued as she began to play and sing country music with other young people at house gatherings.
Eva became more involved in music after her first appearance at the Casa Loma. She then appeared on the Capital CO-OP Jamboree hosted by Bud Brown, winning first prize for her singing. Bud Brown called her to sing on the radio and perform in another evening radio program. Soon, Eva began playing in various clubs in the Fredericton area such as the Air Force Club, The Boat Club, Sports Club, Curling Club, the Moon Palace, the Maritime Club, the Grenade Club in CFB Gagetown, and numerous other places around the province.
Eva was lead singer and rhythm guitar player for a lot of years, accompanying her husband Emile in a group he started called "The Silver Shadows". She played with such folks as Mac Brogan, Oscar Egers, Joey Knight, Ronnie Day and many others. Music was a big part of her life. Eva also has the distinction of being the last surviving female singer of the original Casa Loma Dance Hall in Minto.
At the age of 34, Eva became a born-again Christian and shifted to singing and playing gospel music, which she is still doing today. She started playing with The Maritime Gospel Express and recorded the song, "Stop, Look, and Listen" on Rev. Frank & Doris Robichaud's CD/tape. Eva sang with other gospel singers like Rodney Robichaud and Johnny Madore. She played at Faith School of Theology in Mill Cove, at the Rusagonis Gospel Weekend, and at various concerts in addition to Friday night street meetings in Minto initiated by The Gospel Lighthouse. She has played for many local churches and charitable benefits.
Currently, Eva plays and sings at The House of the Lord in Upper Salmon Creek with other church members. She uses her musical talents to harmonize and to help support the ministry of Revs. Ivan & Joan Perry. The Bible encourages us to use our talents for the Lord and Eva says she will continue to do just that for years to come, by God's grace. Her favorite song is "I've Got So Much to Thank Him For."
Presently, Eva resides in Minto, NB. She is the mother of two children, a daughter Martha and a son Mark. She is also the grandmother of three, Jacob, Justin, and Grace. As you can see, she is a living testimony of her favorite song, because "I have so much to thank Him for," says Eva.
