MINTO COUNTRY MUSIC WALL OF FAME INC.
Eddie Richard was born in Minto in 1951, the son of the late Emile Joseph and the late Imelda (Richard) Richard. Eddie has 8 brothers and 6 sisters. He graduated from Minto Memorial High School in 1970.
Eddie has performed musically since he was a teenager. The instrument he chose to make his own was the bass guitar, playing with many of the locals such as Eric Richard, Paul DuJohn, David, Vernon and Jocelyn McNeill, David Nightingale and Oscar Egers.
In the summer of 1972, Eddie left Minto and traveled to Calgary, Alberta with David and Vernon McNeill, their group then known as "Mother's Love". Once established in the music business in Calgary they changed their name to "Noah's Ark" and recorded two records which were very successful. They performed professionally for 9 years in Western Canada.
The group separated but Eddie and Vernon McNeill soon joined a group called "Kitch's Kountry". In the mid 1980's, Ed played with the "Patty Lynn Band" touring southern Alberta and Saskatchewan. During this period he also performed with Jocelyn McNeill.
Eddie returned to Minto in 1985 for a short time, but soon joined Vernon McNeill back in Calgary performing as a duo. From October 1985 to 2005 Eddie went on his own again performing throughout Western Canada.
In August 2005, "Noah's Ark" did a reunion in Calgary which was probably one of the highlights of Ed's musical career. Acquaintances and good friends were reunited to mark a memorable event.
Since 2005, Eddie still performs on a regular basis playing bass guitar with "The Dorymates", a well-known Newfie group entertaining throughout Western Canada.
Eddie currently resides in Calgary, Alberta and has two sons, Cody and Sage.
