MINTO COUNTRY MUSIC WALL OF FAME INC.
Arthur Dupuis

2009 INDUCTEE
Arthur Dupuis, the son of Clifford and Mary (Girouard) Dupuis, was born in Bronson Settlement, N.B. in 1929.  At the age of 10, Art already had a passion for the fiddle.  He saved his money and bought his first fiddle from Celime Richard for $15.00 at the age of 13.

In 1953 Art moved to Minto and started playing at various parties, local halls, weddings and other special events.  During these times he developed relationships with Minto's finest musicians.

In the early 1960's, Art became part of the Casa Loma Band   They played Saturday night dances and became regulars on Saturday Morning Radio at CFNB.  Many a good time was had with Oscar Egers and Mac Brogan, two excellent fiddlers from Chipman, and all prominent musicians from Minto and Chipman have accompanied Art at one time or another. He has composed numerous tunes over the years, one of which is "The Kent County Waltz" which remains a favorite for many people to this day.

In the late 80's and 90's, Art attended weekly fiddling workshops in both the Fredericton and Moncton areas, to express his passion for music and share ideas with his musical colleagues.

Art has two sons - Al Dupuis who is a well-known recording artist, and Ron Dupuis also a local entertainer, and a daughter Diane Dupuis-Cormier who has a voice as smooth as her father's violin.  Art has 2 granddaughters Julie and Jolyne Dupuis-Cormier.

Art currently resides in St. Paul, Kent County and has passed his passion and talent for the violin to his eldest granddaughter Julie who thoroughly enjoys playing her grandfather's music.

Thank you, Art for giving us so much joy with your mastery of the violin and your willingness to share your great talent with all of us.
