Armand (Curly) Richard was born at Rogersville, NB on April 29, 1928 and moved to Minto at the age of 6. Curly first showed his musical abilities on the old fashion organ in the parlor. He bought his first accordion when he was 12 and is an accomplished piano player as well. Curly also lived for a period of time in River Hebert, Nova Scotia where he played with three local bands.
Curly, Johnny, and the late Celime Richard, all brothers, traveled the Maritimes with the Lone Star Playboys and did weekly radio broadcasts over several radio stations including CHSJ in Saint John, CHNC in New Carlisle, Quebec, CJEM Edmundston, CKNB Campbellton, and CKCW in Moncton. He joined the "Bunkhouse Boys" in 1949.
Curly also played television and radio during the '50's and '60's. He has played with many musicians and bands including Bob Landry, 'Pooter" Bailey Band", and the "Hangin' In Band". He has appeared many times at the Playhouse with the Capital City Jamboree, many Legions, dances, and various social and charity events.
Armand and his wife Cecile moved to Fredericton in 1969 where they still reside. They have four children, Ronnie, Gisele, Andre, and Monique.
Armand (Curly) Richard is a member of the New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame.
